Watching the breath

Start watching where it enters through your nostril (inhalation) and flows down into your lungs. At the end of the inhalation, there is a gap, before the exhalation starts. Watch that gap. Now watch the exhalation (air goes out through nostril). Pay attention to the natural rhythm. Do not breath external or loud. When you able to do correctly, try the next level.

Meditate through chant or mantra

To yourself remind the holy chant "OM" (or any other mantra you can choose) continually, with every inhaling of breath and again with every exhaling of breath. Do this with every breath constantly. Use the mantra to create a rhythm with breath. Meditation music can help to meditate also, so you can play any peaceful song.

Soon this will become a natural state for you. The rhythm of breath and the trans stage will happen automatically without any effort. You will find enjoyment that you have never felt before and met many psychic abilities. All these meditation techniques are described in Indian scriptures and known as Vipassana meditation.
